Ceemet partners in AI@Work Project to explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the workplace

Ceemet is proud to be the coordinator of the AI@Work project, co-funded by the European Union, which aims to offer an in-depth analysis of the effects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on employers and their workforces. The initiative assesses the main challenges and opportunities posed by AI in the business environment and provides employers, trade unions, and policymakers with valuable insights into the current use of AI through case studies. The AI@Work project brings together leading organisations to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the world of work, with a strong focus on skills and competitiveness. It examines the legal context for AI implementation in European companies, its potential to support workforce planning, and its role in addressing skills shortages in a few publications and fact sheets. A key objective is to define the new and evolving skill sets required as AI technologies become more integrated into industrial operations.

At the same time, the project assesses how AI contributes to the competitiveness of European companies, in particular through a survey, identifying emerging clusters of AI users and analysing how AI improves core business areas such as quality management and employee development. Through this comprehensive approach, AI@Work aims to provide practical insights and policy guidance to help Europe remain at the forefront of industrial innovation.

Led by the Ceemet, the results for the projects will be largely disseminated by and through the European Employers’ Institute (EEI) among the relevant policymakers and the public. The dissemination strategy will also include communication to six EU Sectoral Social Dialogue Committees: Agriculture (COPA), Chemicals Industry (ECEG), Construction (FIEC), Commerce Sector (EuroCommerce), Metal Industries (Ceemet as coordinator), Temporary Agency Work (WEC). Dissemination will also occur at the national level via employer representatives such as UIMM, Gesamtmetall, and Teknikföretagen, among others.

This ambitious project, of which Ceemet is very excited to be part, will deliver outputs over a two-year period, running until April 2027, contributing significantly to the European debate on the future of work in the age of AI.
