Ceemet, the European employers’ organisation representing 200,000 companies in the metal, engineering and technology-based (MET) industries, welcomes the decision to place competitiveness and the functioning of the Single Market at the centre of discussions at the upcoming retreat. These issues are of particular importance for MET industries, which are among the sectors most directly affected by the current geopolitical and geoeconomic context.

This open letter outlines the views of key industrial sectors on the need to both protect EU industries and further complete the Single Market. It highlights the importance of simplifying regulations, facilitating worker mobility, and accelerating digitalisation from an industrial perspective.

The current context presents a critical opportunity for action. European industries require clear direction and effective policy support to enable the continent to remain competitive and resilient in an increasingly challenging global environment.
