Fit for purpose social regulation

EU Affairs

MET sector companies are well integrated in global production and supply chains. For European companies to remain competitive, it is important to have coherent, stable and predictable regulation. Regulation must be applicable, enforceable, and based on comprehensive and objective impact assessments. It should only fix a problem. If so, it will boost competitiveness, business investment and job creation. If not, regulation becomes nothing but a burden.

Mission & Objectives

Ceemet’s EU Affairs Committee discusses and responds to European-level developments affecting the MET industries, such as EU Directives and European Court of Justice (ECJ) rulings on employment and social policy-related issues.

This committee meets three times per year. If necessary, an ad hoc Teams meeting is organised.

The Committee Chair is Mads Storgaard Pedersen (Dansk Industri, Denmark), and it is coordinated by Hilde Thys.

A working group discussing the advocacy at the EU level on specific files is organised as a hybrid meeting 10 times per year.
