On 18 December 2023, Ceemet participated in the launch meeting called “Past experience for the future ” within the project EWC MENTOR: EWC Mentors’ Effective Networking and Training Cooperation Reinforcement”, co-financed by the European Union.Ceemet, its French member UIMM, IndustriAll-Europe are the partners of this project which will last until 2025.
Following the welcome speech of the project leader Mirosław Grzybek from FZZMiH, the partners presented their organizations. After that, Mr Owczarek from IPA presented the key objectives of the project and its structure. Partners discussed how to use the capacity of the currently existing networks of EWC trainers to boost EWC Mentor program agenda in the project. Further, Mr Pańków (IPA)presented key conclusions from the studies on EWC carried out by the Institute of Public Affairs and/or Federation of Metal and Steel Production Workers Union. A focus was put on the perspective of the EWC members from the new EU Member States and on the ongoing discussion on the Recast Directive on EWC.
After the break, the partners discussed how to improve the effective operation of EWC as a win-win situation for employers and employees. Ceemet made a short presentation on the topic stating among other things that to improve the functioning of EWCs additional laws are not a solution. Ceemet highlighted the need to provide a funding to the social partners to support the implementation of EWCs, exchange best practices.
The last part of the meeting was devoted to the discussion of the next steps in the EWC Mentor project.
