EU Social partners’ joint statement: Reinvigorating the European project on the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome

The employer and worker representatives of the European Metal, Engineering and Technology-based (MET) industries underline the need for a responsible and objective discussion on the importance of the European project, notably its contribution to maintaining the longest ever period of peace in Europe.

EU60 – an opportunity

industriAll-Europe and Ceemet consider the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome a key opportunity to celebrate the benefits that the European Union brings to its members, enterprises, workers and citizens as well as a key moment to express their views for reinvigorating the European project.

Now is the time to stand together and commit to supporting our European project, to make it a success story for the next 60 years and beyond.

The MET industries are at the heart of Europe’s industrial base, which contributes to the wealth and wellbeing of entire societies. Europe is the cradle of the manufacturing industry and has always been, and will continue to be, at the forefront of industrial revolutions and technological innovations.
